Tianjin is often overlooked by foreign travelers in a hurry to Beijing. However, Tianjin is really a good choice as a travel destination in China. Jinmen Guli means old place in Tianjin for the reason that Jinmen is another name for Tianjin and Guli implies old place. Actually Jinmen Guli is a street, Ancient Cultural Street (Gu Wehua Jie). There are many stores along this street dealing in jade articles, antiques, traditional handicrafts, especially famous Niren Zhang painted sculptures and Weiji kites.
   
Huangyaguan Great Wall in Tianjin

Huangyaguan Great Wall : Huangya, means "yellow cliff". This pass takes this name from the yellowish hills and rocks nearby. the Huangyanguan was repaired for the first time in Ming Dynasty with bricks and for the second time in 1985. In 1986 it was listed a key relics protection target of Tianjin city. Now it is also chosen as a patriotic education and national defense education base of Tianjin. Besides, starting form 1999, there is going to be a special tourism activity there-International Great Wall Marathon.

 
The Dule Temple is more than 1,000 years old and consists of a complex of grand structures. In Dule Temple you can see the oldest multi-storied wooden pavilion in China and the Kwan-yin statue, one of the biggest clay sculptures preserved in China. the Dagu Fort Built in 1858 close to the sea, Dagu Fort was used to protect the capital city of the Qing Dynasty, Beijing. If you ever visit Dagu Fort, there are other attractions around worthy your time as well, such as Haimen Bridge and Dagu Beacon.
 

The Dabei Buddhist Monastery is made up of two parts: the old monastery and new monastery. The monastery was once famous for holding a skull relic of Xuanzang; however, the relic was presented to India in 1956 when it was taken to Nalanda¡ªallegedly by the Dalai Lama. The relic is now in the Patna museum. From then on, the Great Compassion monastery uses the image of the Xuanzang Master during worship of the Buddha instead of the spirit bones.
